Choreographer Salim no more

Veteran South Indian choreographer Salim, who composed several numbers for matinee idols like NTR, MGR, Chiranjeevi, ANR, Krishna, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, died in Chennai on Friday night following a prolonged illness. He was 80 and is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Salim had the unique distinction of directing three Chief Ministers: M.G. Ramachandran, Jayalalita and N.T. Rama Rao, when they were busy as actors. He had choreographed for more than 300 films in Telugu Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
From basic steps to box steps and lock steps to classical dances, "Nrutyam Salim" remained a constant name on the titles scroll for over 3 decades in these film industries.
